Developer Advocate
A second me: someone who can run client DevRel programs end-to-end, in our voice, with our standard.
- Location
- SF Bay Area. Hybrid, travel as needed.
- Type
- Contractor (1099)
- Time
- 20-40 hours/week depending on client load
- Compensation
- $120-$180/hr or $12k-$20k/month retainer. Open to equity discussion at conversion.
- Reports to
- Dan Goosewin, Founder
Goosewin's growing fast and Dan can only be in one room at a time. We need a Developer Advocate who can own one or two clients fully (strategy, execution, and the customer-facing work) without us needing to babysit. The bar is high: this person represents Goosewin and our clients to the developer ecosystem.
If you've been a DevRel for a real product (not a content treadmill), you can hold your own with infra-curious developers, and you actually like the field marketing side of the work, this is a great fit. We're not looking for a content factory. We're looking for someone who builds relationships and gets developers to care.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end DevRel for 1-2 clients: strategy doc, monthly playbook, weekly execution
- Run technical content streams: blog posts, code examples, demos, social posts, written or co-produced
- Speak at and host client events (dinners, happy hours, hackathons, conference talks). Be the face when Dan can't be
- Build and maintain relationships with key developers in the client's ecosystem
- Participate in our partnership outreach: OSS projects, content partners, model providers
- Run weekly client checkins, monthly reports, and quarterly strategy reviews using Goosewin templates
What we look for
- 3+ years in DevRel, developer marketing, or technical evangelism for a product developers actually use
- Real technical chops: you can read code, build a small demo, and not freeze when a developer asks a hard question
- You write well: clearly, with personality, and without LLM-grade slop
- You're comfortable on stage and on camera, but you don't need it
- You understand that DevRel is a sales function with a different costume
Nice to have
- Existing presence in AI and agent infra, dev tooling, or LLM ecosystems
- Background as a software engineer before pivoting into DevRel
- Experience running events or community programs
Why Goosewin
- Get to do real DevRel work without the dysfunction of an in-house team
- Variety: 2 clients, different stacks, different audiences. You'll learn a lot
- We bring you into deals from kickoff so you actually shape strategy, not just execute it
- Real path to a senior role and equity if you build out a practice with us
